The East Course presents many interesting risk-reward opportunities. The fairways are generous, but undulating and lined with trees and the greens are raised and sloping. There is ample bunkering protecting the greensides and landing areas. Many of the bunkers are incorporated into the mounding complexes, giving them sod faces and high lips. Landing in them on the fairways could be treacherous but taking a gamble could earn you some great scoring opportunities. Water hazards come into play on 15 holes, most notably on the par-3 17th, which demands a tricky forced carry.
